Who Lives at Beit Kayam?

Shoshanna Krall

Shoshanna Krall is 28 years old. She was born in Portland and raised in Salem and Portland, Oregon. She is a teacher, farmer/gardener, and writer, looking to create her own vibrant community within the larger Portland one.

She studied theater arts and environmental studies in college, and spent two and half years working as a naturalist/outdoor educator/teacher in California and Oregon.

Later, she studied farming and Jewish leadership at the Adamah program in northwestern Connecticut, where she learned exactly how vibrant an agricultural Jewish community can be. Ask her about the new moon celebrations, or about the kosher slaughter she attended.

Shoshanna also spent a summer at another Jewish farm and leadership program, our sister "Kayam Farm", in Reisterstown, MD., where she earned a certificate in Jewish Community Gardening and Jewish Environmental Education.

Currently, Shoshanna is (student) teaching second and third grade at a wonderful alternative school in Tualatin, Oregon, and attending graduate school in teaching full time at Marylhurst University.

Angel

I am a longish-haired black lab mix. I just turned six years old, but I still love to play.
I am pretty mellow around the house overall. Naps are my favorite past time. Don't be surprised if I select you as my new best friend and ask you to pet me.
I love my fellow house mates so much that I work hard at protecting them. That is, I bark at the door until my friends introduce me to you.
I enjoy living with Jews because they like to eat and I like to eat too. I eat mostly organic or natural foods, just like my house mates.
Feel free to contact my best friend, Claire, for more information about me. Her e-mail is [email protected].
